While converting, I improved and enhanced the code, and thereby I managed to extend the functionality a bit. All in all, the capDropper plugin, as I named it, has the following features:

• The cap can be dropped automatically or manually
• In automatic mode, cap dropping can be switched off per article
• In manual mode, the plugin can be switched on by putting a tag in an article
• The plugin can be banned from section and category blog pages
• The style can either be taken from a template or be inserted in the page
• The css class can be changed, so that it can be set to match that of a template
• The plugin's default css can be edited to change the style of the capital letter
• The plugin is translation-ready and an English language file is included
• The plugin is Joomla! 1.5 native and does not need the Legacy Plugin
• The pluginworks without javascript

Moreover, I used my custom backend parameter for version information, which will alert administrators when a new version is available.
